Botox and dermal fillers are used cosmetically to improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles and provide volume and contouring to the face. Performed by the skills of a specialist, injectables can greatly enhance a person’s aesthetics. Muscle relaxants like Botox and dermal fillers continue to grow in popularity, and have been for over a decade.
What is the difference between Botox, Xeomin and Fillers?
For plumping and defining lips, both Botox and filler treatments can be effective. You’re likely to consider how quickly you’ll see results and how long those results will last when trying to decide between Botox, Xeomin or a dermal filler. Both Botox and Xeomin use the botulinum toxin to relax muscles, while dermal fillers work by filling in the grooves and lines of the skin to promote fullness and volume. Both cosmetic treatments work quickly with noticeable results within a couple of days after your session.
As is always the case, the outcome for any cosmetic injection will vary from person to person. The biggest factors that may affect how long it lasts are the location of the injection and the amount used. Other factors include wrinkle depth, your age and the elasticity of your skin.
Typically you can expect the results to last from three to six months with Botox. They eventually get shorter and smaller over time when facial muscles aren’t used, so regular use of Botox may extend the results for longer periods of time.
Dermal fillers can last anywhere from six months to 24 months, typically providing optimal results with a single treatment. With the highest concentrations providing longer-lasting results, these results also depend on the concentration of hyaluronic acid.
What are the different injectables and fillers that Wellife Center uses?
Botox — Botox is created with the botulinum toxin and is used to relax muscles to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
Newtox — Another version of the botulinum toxin, Newtox can stop the natural muscle contractions that form wrinkles.
Xeomin — Just like Botox, Newtox makes use of the botulinum toxin. The way they differ is that Newtox contains only the botulinum toxin, while Botox and Xeomin contain accessory proteins.
Juvederm — Juvederm is a dermal filler that uses hyaluronic acid to fill in creases and wrinkles.
Radiesse — Composed of calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA), Radiesse works immediately after injection. Calcium hydroxyapatite is made up of calcium and phosphate ions, which both naturally occur in the body.
Sculptra — Effective at restoring volume lost due to aging, Sculptra contains a biocompatible substance called poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) that stimulates the production of collagen and elastin.
What do injections and fillers treat?
Injectables and fillers are used for a number of different cosmetic applications, primarily to provide volume and reduce the appearance fine lines and wrinkles.
Lines and Wrinkles — Fine lines and wrinkles are a telltale sign of aging and affect everyone at one point throughout their lives. Injectables are highly effective at minimizing these lines and wrinkles and producing a more youthful appearance.
Volume Loss — Volume will inevitably be lost as the aging process continues. Injectables and dermal fillers are incredibly efficacious at restoring this lost volume, for a plump, rejuvenated appearance.
