Our hormones regulate nearly every function in our body, serving as chemical messengers to help with growth, development, blood sugar levels, bone growth, sexual and reproductive health, appetite, and more. As such, when a hormonal imbalance occurs, it can cause widespread effects on our health and well-being. At Wellife Ageless Center in Atlanta, GA, our female hormone specialists would be pleased to provide you with first-rate treatment if you are dealing with a hormonal imbalance.
What type of female specialist at your clinic can help me with my hormone imbalance?
At Wellife Ageless Center, we have several medical professionals that can help you with your hormone imbalance, including nurse practitioners, medical doctors, and lymphatic specialists!
Our co-founders, Dr. Norma J Curby and Dr. Brittany M Curby, are nurse practitioners with plenty of experience and expertise in nutritional health and naturopathic medicine. With their experience and knowledge, they can provide excellent solutions for hormonal imbalances.
Furthermore, our medical director, Dr. LaToya Stephens, is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist (OBGYN) with additional training in bariatric medicine. Both she and our lymphatic specialist, Consuela Whitfield, can also provide excellent hormonal imbalance treatment.
How do I know I have hormonal imbalance?
Since our hormones regulate every bodily function, there is an extensive range of symptoms that you can experience if you have a hormonal imbalance. Some common symptoms of a hormonal imbalance include the following:
- Anxiety or depression
- Blurred vision
- Breast tenderness
- Constipation or frequent bowel movements
- Difficulty managing or losing weight
- Dry skin
- Excessive sweating
- Frequent urination
- Heavy or painful periods
- Increased or decreased heart rate
- Insomnia or poor quality of sleep
- Irritability or mood swings
- Joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
- Low sex drive (libido)
- Muscle aches
- Thinning hair
- Unexplained weight gain
- Vaginal dryness
While the presence of any of the above symptoms does not automatically indicate a hormonal imbalance, the likelihood that you have a hormonal imbalance increases with the more of such symptoms you experience.
In order to diagnose a hormonal imbalance, your doctor will likely perform a physical exam and suggest one or more diagnostic tests based on the symptoms you are experiencing. Examples of such diagnostic tests include blood tests to check thyroid and cortisone, estrogen, and testosterone levels, pelvic exams or pap smears, ultrasound to get images of various glands in your body, and more.
When should I see a hormone specialist?
If you are experiencing several of the above-listed symptoms of a hormonal imbalance without any known direct cause, you should consider seeing a hormone specialist who can determine what the specific hormonal imbalance is and provide treatment to restore balance to your hormone levels.
Can I get hormone therapy without insurance?
If you lack health insurance or have a health insurance plan that does not provide coverage for hormone therapy, we would still be more than happy to provide you with hormone therapy.
